E-Petitions

The Council welcomes petitions and recognises they are one way in which people can let us know of their concerns.

All petitions should comply with our petitions policy and can be related to issues that affect the residents of Essex.

If you are considering raising a petition about a planning application or planning policy document you may find it helpful, before starting, to seek additional information by sending an email to: mineralsandwastedm@essex.gov.uk for applications or mineralsandwastepolicy@essex.gov.uk for policy documents. If possible, please quote the application reference or document title in your email and also please use it in the text of your e-petition if you decide to raise one.

By signing an e-petition you agree that your e-mail address may be shared with other signatories to that petition in any electronic correspondence to the lead petitioner.

Mr Mick Patrick

To Cllr Anthony Hedley Chair of Essex Fire Authority(Essex Fire Service Audit & Gov Review Committee), Kelvedon Park, 4th Oct.

We the undersigned would like Essex County Council & Essex Fire Service to reconsider the restructuring of frontline fire services that effect the Aerial Ladder Tender, Harlow; the removal of second four engines at Corringham, Orset, Rayleigh Weir, Frinton and Loughton; the transition to on-call service at Clacton, Dovercourt, South Wooden Ferrers, Gt Baddow and Waltham Abbey.

How many frontline staff will lose their jobs or be pensioned off at more cost to the government treasury?

This will clearly endanger lives in first and second response times to all types of emergency , commercial and domestic. Clearly original response times cannot be met and removing staff and fire engines on the basis of historic use can only end in disaster.

This petition has been reviewed and the following response has been offered:
Thank you for raising the matter of the restructuring of frontline fire services with the Council. We encourage active engagement with residents on matters of concern. However, our Petitions Policy requires us to respond to petitions when there has been a minimum of ten signatories. Your petition has not reached that minimum requirement and so, regretfully, I must inform you that no further action will be taken.
