Details

Agreement to enter into a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSE) for a period of three years commencing 1st April 2024 for the purposes of post-mortem examinations including histology and related body storage of the deceased, at a cost of £2.3m
The Council has arrangements in place to have access to body storage and pathology services (for post-mortems) with all of the acute hospital trusts within the administrative area of Essex. The Council needs to secure greater capacity within the mortuaries of Broomfield Hospital, Basildon Hospital and Southend University Hospitals operated by MSE to provide certainty in supporting the service to meet its statutory duties within the death management system.
