Additional Information

Details

It is proposed to introduce a “Bus Only Lane” along Station Approach in Braintree, due to the introduction of one-way operation along Station Approach ‘loop’ in order to reduce conflicts between bus services and other general traffic by enforcing one-way operation.

This also allows the introduction of the secondary bus stop by ensuring stopping sight distances for the restricted manoeuvres through the space. These measures are part of the Braintree ATF2 programme.

The introduction of the bus lane in Station Approach is tied to other improvements the council are making for bus operation in the area around the train station. Consultation drawing was not accurate last year, so a new TRO is required together with the revision of the Bus only sign. Any objections that ECC receives to the proposals will need to be considered through the CMA process and any changes made to the original scheme made, if thought valid and can be carried out within agreed budgets.
