Additional Information
Details
When the position of headteacher became vacant at Montgomery Infant and Nursery School in April 2022, the governing body considered the range of options available to it in relation to securing the future leadership of the school. Montgomery Infant and Junior schools are both rated good by Ofsted.
A decision was taken by the governing bodies of both Montgomery Infant and Nursery School and Montgomery Junior School to consult on a proposal to amalgamate the two schools as the governors saw significant advantages in combining the schools into a primary school under the leadership of the headteacher of Montgomery Junior School, and for the junior school to continue to drive up standards and performance. Essex County Council (ECC) supported this decision. The amalgamation process would involve the formal closure of the infant school on 31 March 2025 and extending the lower age range of the junior school from 7-11 years to 3-11 years to become a primary school from 1 April 2025.
