It is a requirement from the Department for Education that every Local Authority delivers a HAF programme, providing free places for young people who are eligible for income related free school meals. This will be the 5th year of delivery and through consultation with locally trusted organisations, parents and the young people we have developed an excellent model, that not only provides free spaces at over 200 holiday clubs, but provides support, networks, signposting and resilience building for young people and families most in need of this support.

Additional Information

Details

The Department for Education requires that every 
Local Authority delivers their holiday activities and 
food (HAF) programme and provides them with 
funding to manage and deliver the programme. For 
2025-26 Essex County Council is expecting around 
£4,200,000 for the delivery of the programme and we 
need to confirm that 1. Essex County Council is happy 
to accept this and 2. that Essex County Council are 
happy for Active Essex to manage and deliver the 
programme
