E-Petitions

The Council welcomes petitions and recognises they are one way in which people can let us know of their concerns.

All petitions should comply with our petitions policy and can be related to issues that affect the residents of Essex.

Essex County Council: Petition Against Free School Transportation Cuts

I, the undersigned, protest against the three mile limitation of free school transportation for Year Seven pupils.

According to the new policy, which was not made known to head teachers, governors and parents, Year Seven pupils across the entire Essex will only be able to avail of the free transportation services if they fulfill two conditions; (1) they should be attending the nearest school within their residence and; (2) they are more than three miles away from the said school. If not, then they are forced to take the public transportation. For some families, it would be a £700 increase to their annual expenditure per child. The council has taken little interest in the urgency and importance of this issue.

In this regard, I implore the Essex County Council to halt the delay and bring back the free school transportation for the students and give them what they deserve.

The Undersigned,
Aubrey Bloom for h3adrush.com
