E-Petitions

The Council welcomes petitions and recognises they are one way in which people can let us know of their concerns.

All petitions should comply with our petitions policy and can be related to issues that affect the residents of Essex.

If you are considering raising a petition about a planning application or planning policy document you may find it helpful, before starting, to seek additional information by sending an email to: mineralsandwastedm@essex.gov.uk for applications or mineralsandwastepolicy@essex.gov.uk for policy documents. If possible, please quote the application reference or document title in your email and also please use it in the text of your e-petition if you decide to raise one.

By signing an e-petition you agree that your e-mail address may be shared with other signatories to that petition in any electronic correspondence to the lead petitioner.

Save Essex Recycling Centres From Reducing it's Service and Encouraging Fly Tipping

Whilst more and more of the hard working people of Essex make time in their busy lives to commit to domestic recycling schemes and responsible disposal of waste, Essex County Council has deemed that from October 31st 2016 it will no longer be possible to dispose at most of it's Recycling Centres;

  • Soil

  • Hardcore

  • Plasterboard

  • Bathroom ceramics, including sinks, toilets and baths, and any tiles

  • Fitted kitchen units and worktops

  • uPVC or wooden doors or window frames

And will also no longer offer access to:

  • Trucks

  • Vans, including car-derived vans

  • Pick-ups

  • Any towed-trailer with more than one axle

These measures effecting 12 sites (over half of the County's 21 Centres) will almost certainly increase the amount of Fly Tipping across Essex as the amount of building waste from D.I.Y projects residents can take to the centres will be greatly restricted.

Epping Forest Labour Party along with Loughton town Councillor Tom Owen wholeheartedly oppose these plans to reduce recycling services and we ask Essex County Council to retract them immediately.

You do not have to be a Labour Party supporter of even have Labour values, but we ask you to please sign this petition if you care about the landscape of our beautiful County.
